On Saturday, September 19, the Inland Communities Fellowship of Reconciliation (IC FOR), in partnership with Human Migration Institute and Riverside Interfaith Council, will honor the International Day of Peace (observed worldwide on September 21) at Arlington Branch Library in Riverside.
 
This free community event is open to all. Join host Ipyani Lockert, an array of community action groups, and your friends and neighbors to honor the “everyday architects of peace”—people driving local action, laying the groundwork for stability, and building a lasting peace from the ground up.
 
Our Keynote Speaker is Asma Safi, one of Riverside’s Most Remarkable Teens of 2025. Asma is an inspiring young leader who recently made history in her family by becoming the first woman to graduate high school in the United States—a milestone that marks just the beginning of her journey.
 
Graduating with honors from Lincoln High School and ranking at the very top of her class, Asma has demonstrated not only academic excellence but also unwavering determination. This fall, she ​t​ook the next big step in her journey by pursuing Biology at the UC Riverside School of Medicine.
 
The International Day of Peace is observed around the world each year on September 21. Established by unanimous United Nations resolution in 1981, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace. 2025 marked the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations.
